Bento Grid Layout Patterns for Marketing Sites
Composable sections that balance hierarchy, scanability, and responsive behavior.
Nestlancer Editorial

Bento grids chunk marketing stories into scannable tiles—each cell owns one idea, hierarchy varies by size, and responsive reflow must not scramble narrative order.
Composition rules
- One hero tile (2×2) anchors the grid
- Supporting tiles single-purpose: testimonial, metric, feature gif
- Maximum 6–8 tiles above fold—density without clutter
Responsive behavior
| Breakpoint | Pattern |
|---|---|
| Desktop | 4-column grid, asymmetric spans |
| Tablet | 2-column, hero full width |
| Mobile | Single column in narrative order |
Do not rely on CSS grid auto-placement alone—explicit order for mobile story sequence.
Content pairing
Pair visual weight with message importance. Small tiles for logos; large tiles for primary CTA and hero metric.
Performance
Lazy-load media in below-fold tiles. Reserve aspect-ratio boxes to prevent CLS when images arrive.
Bento layouts work when each tile answers one question—avoid dumping entire feature lists into one cell.
